Charlie Pratt caused the first upset of the International Racquetball Tour's (IRT's) Party with the Pros tournament in St. Louis, Missouri as he defeated Jose Rojas in four games in the Round of 16. He'll now face IRT #1 Kane Waselenchuk, who beat fellow Canadian Lee Connell in three games, in the quarter finals later on Friday.
But the second upset came in the last match of the 16s, as Tony Carson defeated Chris Crowther, 11-13, 11-9, 6-11, 11-6, 11-5, to reach the quarter finals for the second consecutive IRT tournament. He'll play Ben Croft Friday night.
Brad Schopieray almost caused an even bigger upset as he won the first two games against Shane Vanderson. However, the veteran Vanderson wasn't going to lose that easy, and in fact came back to win the next three games and take the match, 8-11, 1-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-1.
Other winners in the 16s so far include Jack Huczek, who defeated Brian Simpson, 11-6, 11-1, 11-5, and Ben Croft, who beat Erik Leetch 11-3, 11-3, 11-2.
All of Friday's matches are being streamed live over the internet via the IRT Network. The quarter finals begin at 5:30 PM CDT.
