Waselenchuk dominant in semi-finals of Stockton Pro-Am

Kane Waselenchuk put the hammer down in the semi-finals of the Stockton Pro/Am in Stockton, California, this weekend's Tier 1 event on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT), as the #1 IRT player beat Chris Crowther, 11-2, 11-4, 11-0, to advance to Sunday's final.

After losing game one, it seemed that Crowther had a glimmer of hope as he was up 3-0 in game two. However, Waseelenchuk, the winner of seven IRT events this season, proceeded to win the 22 of the next 23 points to take games two and three with a dominating performance.

Alvaro Beltran will be Waselenchuk's opponent in the final, as Beltran upset IRT #2 Rocky Carson in four games, 11-6, 10-12, 11-9, 13-11.

The last time Waselenchuk and Beltran played was in the final of the Florida Spring Break event, when Waselenchuk defeated Beltran in four games. But during that match Waselenchuk felt Beltran mocked him as if Beltran didn't believe that Waselenchuk, who was playing his first tournament after sitting out two events due to a back injury, was injured at all.

Waselenchuk had suffered a back injury that led to his withdrawal from the final of the New York City event and then kept him out of the following two IRT events.

Thus, there may be extra incentive for Waselenchuk on Sunday against Beltran, and usually giving the #1 IRT player extra incentive to perform well is not a good thing to do.

The IRT Network will web-cast the Stockton Pro-Am final Sunday beginning at noon PDT.
