Upsets of 3rd & 4th seeds at the Ektelon Nationals in Fullerton, California

The top two seeds won but the third and fourth seeds did not in the Women's Professional Racquetball Organization (WPRO) division at the Ektelon National Championships in Fullerton, California. Paola Longoria, the WPRO's #1 player, defeated Keely Franks in three straight games, 11-3, 11-1, 11-9, but WPRO #2 Rhonda Rajsich needed four games to fend off Da'monique Davis, 13-15, 11-7, 11-6, 11-5.

Cristina Amaya caused one of the upsets, as she defeated fourth seed Krystal Csuk, 9-11, 4-11, 11-5, 11-3, 11-2, and reach the semi-finals for one of the few times in her career. (note: Amaya has never reached the semis of a Tier 1 or Grand Slam event, but the Fullerton event is a Tier 3 satellite event).

In the US Team Qualifying division, Rajsich and Bellows are also in the semi-finals, and in fact, play each other in the semis. Rajsich defeated Janel Tisinger, 15-5, 15-7, in one quarter final match, while Bellows defeated Krystal Csuk, 15-9, 15-13.

On the other side of the draw, it will be Cheryl Gudinas against Adrienne Fisher, as Gudinas beat Laura Fenton and Fisher beat Jackie Paraiso, 15-8, 15-13.
