2012 LPRT Abierto Mexicano de Racquetas - 16s

T. J. Baumbaugh has the first upset of the Round of 16 at the Ladies Pro Racquetball Tour (LPRT) Abierto Mexicano de Racquetas tournament in Toluca, Mexico, as she defeated Adrienne Fisher, 11-8, 12-10, 9-11, 7-11, 11-5. She'll play Jackie Paraiso in the quarter finals on Saturday.

Paraiso was an upset winner over 3rd seed Krystal Csuk, 11-9, 11-8, 11-4, although Paraiso is a former #1 women's pro player so maybe it's not really an upset.

Two other upsets by the seeding were performed by Samantha Salas Solis, who defeated 4th seed Kerri Wachtel, 11-4, 11-7, 11-5, and Cheryl Gudinas, who beat Cristina Amaya, 12-10, 11-13, 11-1, 11-1, in the 8/9 game. But again in both those matches the winner wasn't that much of an underdog as Salas Solis was ranked ahead of Wachtel before she had a shoulder injury that kept her out of most of last season, while Gudinas - like Paraiso - is a former #1 player.

Another winner in the Round of 16 was Jennifer Saunders, who needed five games to defeat Da'monique Davis, 3-11, 3-11, 15-13, 11-7, 11-6.

Top seed Paola Longoria won her match against Maria Jose Vargas, but it took four games, as Vargas won game three. The final scoreline was 11-6, 11-1, 9-11, 11-1. Kudos to Vargas for taking a game off the LPRT #1 player, Longoria, who hasn't lost since May 2011.

The quarter finals and semi-finals will go on Saturday morning and evening, respectively, and final will be on Sunday at 6 PM CST and we believe it will be televised in Mexico.
