PARC XXVII Pan Am Championships - Day 2 Singles

There through two days of singles competition at the XXVII Pan American Racquetball Championships in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and still no surprises, as you'll see in the results below.

No surprises, but the wins by Maria Jose Vargas are upsets by the seeding, as she is playing for Argentina, which has not done well at previous competitions. Initial seeding into the preliminary groups is based on how well countries have done in previous events.

But Vargas, who was born in Bolivia and played for that country as a junior, is the 3rd ranked women's pro player on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT), so she should be expected to defeat all opponents in Santa Cruz save American Rhonda Rajsich, who's the 2nd ranked LPRT player.

Monday will be the last day of the preliminary round, and there could be some real upsets that day as the highest seeds in the groups will be playing off. The preliminary round results will determine the seeding for the elimination round that will begin Wednesday.

There will be live streaming of the elimination round semi-finals and finals on Friday and Saturday - April 18 and 19 - via the IRT Network.
