15th Annual Ghost of Georgetown - Round of 16

Two upsets in the Round of 16 at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) 15th Annual Ghost of Georgetown tournament in Overland Park, Kansas, as Marco Rojas defeated Daniel De La Rosa, 7-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-4, and Charlie Pratt beat Tony Carson, 10-12, 11-6, 11-6, 11-0.

In their tie-breaker, Rojas was in complete control, as he led start to finish with leads of 3-0 and 7-2. De La Rosa cut the difference to 7-4, but that was as close as he got. Both players drove serve, although Rojas used more variety than De La Rosa, who primarily drove serve to Rojas's backhand.

Rojas will face IRT #2 Rocky Carson in the quarterfinals, as Carson beat Daeyong Kwon, 11-1, 11-0, 13-11, in the 16s.

Kane Waselenchuk, the IRT's #1 player, beat Gerardo Guevara, 11-3, 11-2, 11-3, despite the young Mexican's best efforts. Waselenchuk will play Chris Crowther in the quarters.

Crowther fought off match point in game four of his match with Jansen Allen, as he came back to win in five games, 5-11, 11-9, 2-11, 12-10, 11-4. In the tie-breaker, they were tied at 4-4, but after that Allen only served a couple of times as Crowther went on to win.

The quarterfinals begin at 5 PM Friday, and can be viewed live via the IRT Network. The semi-finals will be Saturday at 4 PM CDT. The final will be at noon on Sunday.
