2014 LPRT Abiertos Mexicano de Racquetas Semi-finals

Paola Longoria, the #1 player on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT), won her semi-final at the 2014 Abiertos Mexicano de Racquetas in Huixquilucan, Mexico, defeating Frédérique Lambert, 11-4, 11-3, 11-9, in the semi-finals.

In Sunday's final, Longoria will play LPRT #3 Maria Jose Vargas who beat #2 Rhonda Rajsich in the other semi-final, 11-8, 11-4, 11-9. After playing a close first game, Vargas blew out Rajsich in game two by going out to an 8-0 lead, and then winning comfortably.

Game three was again close, although Vargas led it early. However, Rajsich used a backhand drive serve to fight back and tied it at 8-8. She even went ahead 9-8.

But Vargas got the serve back with a forehand winner that Rajsich couldn't reach despite diving for it. Then Vargas hit another forehand winner, and forced an error from Rajsich to get her first match point.

On match point, Vargas double faulted with two drive serves to the left. But Rajsich couldn't take advantage, as Vargas got the serve right back.

On her second match point, Vargas won it with a forehand pinch shot.

Sunday's will begin at 6 PM CDT, and can be viewed via the LPRT Network.
